At least three individuals lost their lives after consuming toxic liquor in Karachi’s Nazimabad No. 1 area, police confirmed on Monday. The incident occurred in Rizvia Society, with authorities reporting that six others are currently receiving medical treatment following the consumption of the illicit substance.

According to a statement issued by police, all the affected individuals are residents of North Nazimabad No. 1 and nearby localities. Law enforcement officials have arrested a suspect in connection with the incident. Police stated that they recovered 16 small and three large bottles of illicit liquor from the suspect’s possession. A case has been registered, and further raids are underway to apprehend others potentially involved.

The police statement indicated that the illicit liquor was purchased from various locations. Officials did not provide further details regarding the exact source or composition of the toxic substance.

Sindh Inspector General Javed Alam Odho has taken strict notice of the incident. According to his spokesperson, IG Odho has requested an immediate and detailed report from the Central district senior superintendent of police (SSP). The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

The incident has raised concerns among residents of the affected areas. Police continue to urge the public to avoid consuming unregulated alcoholic beverages and to report any suspicious activity related to the sale of illicit liquor.
