AI Adoption Accelerates in Pakistan’s Corporate Sector

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly becoming a central feature of Pakistan’s corporate landscape. What started as limited pilot projects by a handful of technology-driven companies has, over the past decade, developed into a widespread movement towards digital transformation across the private sector.

The adoption of AI in the corporate sector is relatively recent. Sources highlight a significant milestone in 2017, when Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited (PTCL) entered into a partnership with the US-based applied AI company Afiniti. Through this collaboration, PTCL became the first company in Pakistan to implement Afiniti’s behavioural pairing technology on a large scale.

This AI-driven system was designed to match callers with the most suitable customer service agents, with the goal of improving sales and customer service outcomes. The deployment of this technology marked a notable advancement in the use of AI within Pakistan’s business environment.

Additionally, the presence of Afiniti’s development teams in Karachi and Lahore has been noted as an indicator of the growing local expertise and involvement in AI-related projects. This development underscores the increasing integration of advanced technologies within the country’s corporate sector.
