China, Pakistan, Bangladesh strengthen ties in key sectors during Kunming trilateral talks

BEIJING: China, Pakistan, and Bangladesh held a productive trilateral meeting on Monday in Kunming, focusing on expanding cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, agriculture, climate change, and regional security.

The meeting was led by Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, who emphasized the importance of multilateralism and the alignment of China, Pakistan, and Bangladesh's efforts to foster peace and economic growth in the region.

The discussions were centered around enhancing economic development, improving livelihoods, and reinforcing the shared interests of the three nations.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated that the meeting covered key areas of collaboration, including industry, maritime affairs, water resources, and human resources. The three countries agreed to form a working group to follow up on the implementation of initiatives discussed during the meeting.

The cooperation, based on the principles of mutual trust, equality, and inclusiveness, aims to contribute to regional stability and prosperity.

The session also highlighted the Belt and Road Initiative, with the three countries reaffirming their commitment to high-quality cooperation in a peaceful and stable environment.

Pakistani Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch participated in the first phase of the meeting via video link, underscoring the importance of continued dialogue between the three nations.
