Areej Tariq shares insights on working with Hania Aamir and her role in Meri Zindagi Hai Tu

Areej Tariq, a rising star in the Pakistani entertainment industry, is currently receiving widespread acclaim for her performance in her debut drama series, Meri Zindagi Hai Tu. Though she initially started her career as a makeup artist, working on projects like *Mann Jogi*, Mrs & Mr Shameem, Raqeeb Se, and Jeevan Magar, Areej has made a successful transition into acting. In a recent appearance on Maliha Rehman’s YouTube show, Areej opened up about her experience working with Hania Aamir, whom she greatly admires. Recalling her first day on set, Areej shared, “I didn’t ask for the script and went on the set, and I had my first scene with Hania. By the way, I am a huge fan of Hania Aamir. She came in front of me, and I was completely lost, wondering what made me say yes to this role. But then I reminded myself to enjoy the moment. I had manifested this, and it was happening, so I decided to live in the moment.” Areej described Hania as a sweet, funny, and kind person, noting her professionalism and generosity towards her colleagues. “Hania has an understanding of her work, and she’s always so helpful. She knows where her light is, and she teaches others without any insecurity. Once, she noticed I wasn’t looking like my character, Naveen, and asked me why. She listened to my concerns, and her support really helped me,” Areej shared. Reflecting on the set of *Meri Zindagi Hai Tu*, Areej spoke about the welcoming atmosphere. “The set was so much fun. Jia Ji welcomed me, and we became friends. Atabik also became a great friend. I developed a great camaraderie with Hania. Even though my work on the show is done, I still cherish the amazing experience of being part of this set.” Discussing her role as Naveen, Areej revealed her approach to playing the best friend: “I wanted Naveen to feel like a real friend, not just a filler character. I wanted to make sure she had a meaningful impact on Ayra’s life. In real life, I try to be the kind of friend who helps others, and I applied that to my character. Though we were portraying a toxic situation in the drama, I felt it was important for Naveen to be supportive and genuinely care for her friend.” Areej also spoke candidly about relationships and personal growth, saying, “If my friend’s boyfriend changed for her, I wouldn’t consider it overwhelming—it’s just the bare minimum. People should change in love. If someone parties or drinks, and it’s not something you’re comfortable with, then keep your distance.” Through her insights and reflections, Areej Tariq offered a glimpse into her journey as an actress and the importance of kindness, professionalism, and authentic connections in both her personal and professional life.
