Putin calls for multipolar world, warns against unilateral power plays

MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that international cooperation is essential for humanity’s sustainable development and global stability, saying constructive state interaction is the key to tackling shared challenges.

“Peace does not come by itself,” Putin said while addressing the participants of a ceremony held for presenting letters of credence from newly appointed Ambassadors of foreign nations, Moscow.

“It must be built day by day, through effort, responsibility, and deliberate choices.” He warned that rising global tensions and old conflicts, combined with unilateral actions that replace diplomacy, threaten stability worldwide.

Putin condemned the imposition of power by some states on others, noting that dozens of countries suffer violations of their sovereignty and lack the resources to defend themselves. He called for greater respect for international law, the promotion of emerging trends, and a fair multipolar world order.

Reaffirming Russia’s commitment to a balanced and constructive foreign policy, Putin emphasized the importance of the United Nations as a central pillar of global governance. “Security must be truly comprehensive, equal, and indivisible,” he said, warning that disregarding this principle only leads to crises like the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which he attributed to NATO’s eastward expansion and ignored Russian security concerns.

Putin concluded by affirming Russia’s willingness to build equal, cooperative international relations to promote universal prosperity, well-being, and development.
