KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Sunday visited the ongoing Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project in Karachi, underlining the government’s commitment to delivering modern and efficient public transport.
During his visit, the chief minister emphasized that the Red Line BRT is a strategic initiative designed to provide safe, rapid, and environmentally friendly travel for city residents. He said the project, along with associated infrastructure like flyovers, underpasses, bus stations, and service roads, reflects the Pakistan Peoples Party’s pledge to improve urban mobility.
Murad Ali Shah highlighted that the completion of the Red Line and Shahrah-e-Bhutto projects is crucial for enhancing civic facilities and reducing traffic congestion in Karachi. He assured that no compromises would be made regarding construction quality.
In a briefing on the project, the CM was informed that the Red Line Corridor is being developed in two phases. Phase-I extends from Mosmiyat to Malir Halt and includes seven modern bus stations: Kings Cottage, Safoora, Race Course, Malir Cantt, Tank Chowk, and Tipu Sultan, the latter being added as an additional facility.
The first phase also features three underpasses at Hydrant, Tipu Sultan, and Safoora to facilitate smoother traffic flow.
