BRUSSELS: Pakistan and Jordan have agreed to intensify cooperation in counter-narcotics operations and police training during a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Jordanian counterpart in Brussels.
Leaders from both sides discussed ways to deepen coordination between their interior ministries, with Naqvi extending a formal invitation to the Jordanian minister to visit Pakistan.
The meeting also revisited the recent high-profile visit of Jordan’s King Abdullah II to Pakistan, which took place on 15 November 2025.
Mohsin Naqvi recalled the successful two-day state visit, the first by a Jordanian monarch in 21 years, during which the King met President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to strengthen diplomatic, economic, and security ties.
The discussions also focused on regional dynamics, particularly the situation in Gaza, and culminated in the signing of agreements on media and cultural cooperation.
King Abdullah II was given a military escort by Pakistan Air Force jets upon arrival in Islamabad and received full state honours, including the Nishan-e-Pakistan, the country’s highest civilian award.
During the visit, he also bestowed a Jordanian military honour on Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, signalling a shared commitment to regional peace and military cooperation.
Both leaders reaffirmed their joint opposition to the forced displacement of Palestinians and reiterated support for a two-state solution with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as the Palestinian capital.
The Jordanian interior minister highlighted the historic and fraternal bonds between the two nations, noting that the strengthening of institutional partnerships, particularly in security matters, would accelerate mutual efforts for stability in the region.
The meeting in Brussels builds on earlier engagements, including an October 2025 conversation between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, in which both sides committed to elevated high-level dialogue and closer strategic cooperation.
