Mahira Khan reiterates her stance on speaking up during Pak-India tensions

Mahira Khan has reaffirmed the sentiment behind her comments on the Pakistan-India conflict, explaining why she chose to voice her emotions during a tense period earlier this year. While promoting her upcoming film Neelofar alongside Fawad Khan, she reflected on the message she shared in May and why she felt it was necessary.

In an appearance on Hum News, Mahira said she holds affection for her fans everywhere, including in India, but added that love for one’s country ultimately takes precedence. She described the moment as deeply emotional and said she wasn’t thinking about personal consequences when she decided to speak. Although she typically avoids commenting on political matters, she felt silence would have been insincere.

She acknowledged that some Indian fans might have felt hurt, but clarified that her words were directed at the government’s actions, not the people.

In her May statement, Mahira expressed gratitude for living in a country where she can speak freely and condemned violence in all forms. She criticised what she described as India’s escalating rhetoric and the silence of influential voices amid alleged injustices. She also rejected claims made against Pakistan without evidence and questioned the celebration of attacks carried out at night.

Mahira ended her message with a reaffirmation of her loyalty to Pakistan, praying that her country continues to uphold its values even during provocation.
