Hamza shines as FG/Din claim Maj Gen Saeeduz Zaman Janjua Memorial Polo Cup title

LAHORE: Team FG/Din captured the title of the 13th Major General Saeeduz Zaman Janjua Memorial Polo Cup, sponsored by JS Bank, after overcoming Rijas/Sheikhoo Steel 10–6 in an exciting final on Sunday.

The prestigious six-goal tournament drew a vibrant crowd of spectators and families who gathered in large numbers to enjoy the high-octane finale. The event was organised by the Club (Lahore Garrison Polo Ground) and was sponsored by JS Bank.

The match proved a captivating contest, showcasing top-tier skill, precision riding, and well-executed teamwork from both sides. FG/Din maintained control through key phases of the game, combining coordinated play with offensive brilliance to secure a well-deserved victory.

The final was graced by an esteemed lineup of guests, including Brigadier (R) Mukhtar, Raza Ali (Head of Branch Banking, JS Bank), Dr. Rashid Latif (Rashid Latif University), Majid Qureshi (Regional Head, JS Bank), Brigadier Badruz Zaman (son of late General Saeeduz Zaman), and Club Secretary Maj (R) Babar Mehboob Awan, alongside a large gathering of former and current polo players.

Leading the charge for the champions, Hamza Mawaz Khan delivered an outstanding performance, scoring five goals. Mian Abbas Mukhtar and Sheikh Muhammad Raffay added two goals each, while Amin Rehman Fazal chipped in with one goal to complete FG/Din’s tally.

For Rijas/Sheikhoo Steel, Raja Mikayial Sami stood out with three goals, while Sheikh Muhammad Farhad, Malik Ali Kuli Khan, and Faisal Shahzad contributed one goal apiece. Despite their spirited effort and moments of strong counterattacking play, they were unable to match the sustained pressure and sharp finishing produced by FG/Din.
