  • Terms Sea Lines of Communication vital for economic stability and national security
  • Calls Pakistan Navy the ‘vanguard of peace’ in the Indian Ocean Region

CREEKS AREA: Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf on Saturday reaffirmed Pakistan Navy’s unwavering resolve to defend the nation’s maritime frontiers “from Sir Creek to Jiwani,” as he reviewed operational preparedness and combat readiness at forward posts in the strategic Creeks Area, said a news release issued by the Director General Public Relations (Navy).

During the visit, Admiral Ashraf declared that the Pakistan Navy was “fully prepared to thwart any aggression at sea” and stood as a “vanguard of peace and stability” in the wider Indian Ocean Region. He underscored that the Navy’s robust defence posture extended “from the shores to the sea,” ensuring that Pakistan’s maritime sovereignty remains inviolate under all circumstances.

Highlighting the importance of the country’s Sea Lines of Communication (SLOCs), Admiral Ashraf said maritime security was not merely a military requirement but a lifeline of Pakistan’s economic stability and prosperity. “These waters connect Pakistan to global trade routes and sustain our economic growth—their protection is a strategic necessity and a national duty,” he remarked.

Marking a significant stride in the Navy’s modernization drive, three state-of-the-art 2400 TD hovercrafts were also formally inducted into the Pakistan Marines during the visit. The induction, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), strengthens the Navy’s capacity to conduct swift, multi-domain operations across the country’s coastal belt.

The newly inducted hovercrafts possess the unique capability to operate simultaneously over diverse terrains — including shallow waters, sand dunes, marshes, and boggy littoral zones — where traditional vessels cannot maneuver. This operational flexibility, Admiral Ashraf noted, would provide the Pakistan Marines with a tactical edge in safeguarding coastal installations and responding effectively to emerging maritime threats.

“The addition of these advanced platforms reflects the Navy’s commitment to modernization, self-reliance, and readiness to defend every inch of the country’s maritime boundaries,” he added.

Admiral Ashraf commended the professionalism, dedication, and readiness of personnel deployed in the Creeks Area—a zone that holds both strategic and economic significance due to its proximity to international shipping routes and sensitive coastal installations.

Concluding his visit, the Naval Chief reiterated that the Pakistan Navy’s operational preparedness, coupled with its modernization initiatives, ensures a potent deterrent against any adversary and reinforces Pakistan’s standing as a key stakeholder in regional maritime security.
