Zahid Ahmed, a talented and intelligent actor, is known for his eloquence and meaningful insights. Currently starring in *Dil Dhoondta Hai Phir Wohi*, he recently shared his thoughts on marriage in an interview with Fuchsia during the show’s media junket. A father of two sons and happily married, Zahid has always been open about his struggles, including his challenges with self-image, drug abuse, and how faith helped him overcome these hurdles.
As Gen Z approaches the age where many will consider marriage, Zahid has some valuable advice for them. Reflecting on the rise in divorces and separations, Zahid noted that it’s always heartbreaking to see relationships fall apart. He emphasized that the younger generation needs to understand that nothing in life is perfect, and this includes marriage. There will always be ups and downs, even when living alone, but in marriage, those challenges are magnified. He encouraged young people to be patient, persistent, and to work on truly understanding each other when entering the institution of marriage.
Zahid also shared his perspective on compromise in marriage, stressing the importance of focusing on the positives. He explained that in any relationship, there will be aspects of your partner that you like and others that you may not. He advised that if you accept 7 or 8 out of 10 things about your partner, the 2 or 3 things you don’t like should be approached with compromise. If you focus too much on the negatives, your marriage is likely to fail—even after 40 years.
Zahid’s advice to Gen Z was clear: patience, understanding, and compromise are essential to maintaining a strong and lasting marriage.
