ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad on Thursday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Omar Ayub, Zartaj Gul, and Zain Qureshi in a protest and vandalism case registered at the Sangjani Police Station.
The court directed the police to arrest and produce the PTI leaders at the next hearing, warning that any failure to comply would lead to legal action against those responsible.
In its written order, the court instructed that a police officer of superintendent rank be designated to execute the arrests and ensure compliance.
The ATC expressed dissatisfaction over repeated non-compliance, noting that similar warrants had been issued earlier but not enforced. It reiterated its directive to implement the order without delay.
The case pertains to a protest allegedly involving PTI workers during which public and private property was damaged. The FIR was filed under anti-terrorism provisions at the Sangjani Police Station.
The court has now ordered swift enforcement of the warrants and emphasized accountability within law enforcement for ensuring their execution.
