Pakistan, Russia to boost media cooperation and cultural exchange

ISLAMABAD: Ambassador of Russia Albert P. Khorev met Information Minister Attaullah Tarar on Saturday to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in media, culture, and tourism, and to advance agreements on information exchange between Pakistan and Russia.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed progress on a proposed partnership between Pakistan Television’s international channel PTV World and Russia’s RT network to promote content sharing and joint media initiatives. They also discussed implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) and Sputnik News Agency aimed at strengthening news cooperation.

The two sides agreed to deepen collaboration in key sectors, including culture, tourism, and digital media, reaffirming their commitment to enhancing people-to-people ties. Proposals for exchange programmes involving digital influencers and youth delegations were also discussed to encourage cross-cultural understanding.

Minister Tarar said Pakistan and Russia shared a relationship based on mutual trust and respect and were committed to expanding engagement across multiple sectors.

Ambassador Khorev praised Pakistan’s northern regions for their scenic beauty and growing appeal among Russian tourists, expressing confidence that both countries would continue to build a practical and forward-looking partnership.
