Cricketer dies moments after delivering match-winning spell

MURADABAD: A tragic incident occurred during a domestic cricket match in Muradabad district of Uttar Pradesh when fast bowler Ahmer Khan collapsed and died on the field shortly after bowling the final ball that secured his team’s victory.

According to Indian media reports, the incident took place at the Bilari Sugar Mill Ground during a match organized by the Uttar Pradesh Veterans Cricket Association. The fixture was contested between the Muradabad and Sambhal teams on Sunday.

Muradabad batted first, setting a competitive target for Sambhal. During the final over, Sambhal needed 14 runs off the last four balls. Ahmer Khan bowled a decisive spell that led his team to an 11-run win.

Moments after completing his final delivery, Khan reportedly experienced breathing difficulties and collapsed on the pitch. Teammates and a doctor present at the ground attempted to resuscitate him through CPR before he was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The sudden death cast a shadow of grief over the ground, with celebrations turning instantly into mourning.

Ahmer Khan, described as an experienced and respected local cricketer, had been active in veterans’ cricket for several years. Tournament organizers and fellow players expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences to his family.
