Court puts off hearing in PTI founder’s Azadi March cases till Oct 29

ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court in the capital on Thursday adjourned proceedings in two cases against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and several party leaders in connection with the party’s Azadi March.

Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah presided over the hearing, where arguments were scheduled on acquittal applications filed by the PTI founder. The cases, registered at Kohsar Police Station, accuse the PTI leadership of violating Section 144, which prohibits public gatherings and demonstrations.

Defence lawyers Sardar Muhammad Masroor Khan and Zahid Bashir Dar began presenting arguments in support of dismissing the charges, calling them legally unsustainable. However, their submissions could not be completed, and the prosecution has yet to put forward its full response.

The court adjourned the hearing until October 29, directing both sides to conclude arguments on the acquittal pleas. The ruling on these petitions will decide whether the PTI founder and his colleagues face trial under Section 144.
