Arshad Nadeem advances to World Athletics Championships 2025 javelin final

Arshad Nadeem, Pakistan’s Olympic gold medalist, has qualified for the final of the Men’s Javelin Throw at the World Athletics Championships 2025 in Tokyo, Japan. The final, which includes top athletes such as world No. 1 Julian Weber of Germany and India’s Neeraj Chopra, is set to take place on Thursday at 3:23 PM (PST).

In the qualification round, Nadeem secured his spot with a throw of 85.28 meters in his third attempt, following earlier throws of 76.99m and 74.17m. He joins Anderson Peters of Grenada (85.96m) and Julius Yego of Kenya (89.53m), both of whom also advanced. Chopra, who needed only one attempt to qualify, cleared the automatic mark with a throw of 84.85m.

At the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, Nadeem claimed silver with a throw of 87.82m, while Chopra became India’s first world champion in athletics with a throw of 88.17m. However, at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Nadeem triumphed with a new Olympic record of 92.97m, securing gold and leaving Chopra with silver.
