ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday inaugurated Pakistan TV Digital, the country’s first English-language news channel, aimed at projecting Pakistan’s voice to the world, offering its perspective on national and international developments, and countering anti-Pakistan propaganda.
At the inauguration ceremony, the prime minister unveiled the plaque marking the formal launch of the new channel. He said the initiative would enable Pakistan to present its narrative first and ensure that the world received authentic and credible information directly from Pakistan.
The event was attended by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Secretary Information Ambreen Jan, and senior officials.

During his visit, the prime minister toured various sections of the channel, interacted with young professionals, and lauded their energy and commitment. He stressed their crucial role in countering external disinformation campaigns, calling them “the torchbearers of Pakistan’s narrative in the digital age.”
PM Shehbaz underlined that the primary objective of Pakistan TV Digital was to provide verified, fact-based news and to effectively challenge misinformation about the country. He also recorded his first interview for the channel, excerpts of which were later aired.

“If you are in the right direction, committing yourself with all your passion and energy to serve the cause of your country, that is a huge inspiration,” the prime minister remarked.
Responding to a question on his vision for the next decade, he said he aspired to see Pakistan as “a nation standing tall with remarkable achievements in economic prosperity, peace, and happiness.”
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar briefed the prime minister on the objectives of the new platform. He explained that Pakistan TV Digital would serve as an authentic voice for Pakistan to global audiences, bridging information gaps and promoting public diplomacy through an English-language medium.
The minister said the channel would cover a wide range of critical issues, including Pakistan’s foreign policy, economic progress, cultural heritage, and domestic affairs—all presented from a Pakistani perspective.
Tarar added that the channel would adopt an efficient production model by combining in-house reporting with a global network of freelancers and partnerships with leading wire services such as Reuters and Associated Press (AP). This, he said, would ensure timely, reliable, and high-quality content.
He stressed that Pakistan TV Digital aimed to counter one-sided narratives often prevalent in Western and Indian-influenced regional media and would emerge as a credible hub for authentic news, analysis, and commentary from Pakistan’s viewpoint.
