Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq has been ruled out of the Asia Cup 2025 due to a shoulder injury, the Afghanistan Cricket Board confirmed on Monday. The board said he was not declared fit by the medical team and would miss the rest of the tournament.
According to the ACB, Naveen will continue treatment and rehabilitation until he is fully fit. The board extended best wishes for his recovery and confirmed that Abdullah Ahmadzai has been added to the main squad as his replacement.
Ahmadzai, who made his T20I debut against the United Arab Emirates in a recent tri-series, was previously among the reserves. He will now be part of the squad for the remaining matches of the Asia Cup.
Afghanistan opened their campaign with a 94-run win over Hong Kong in Dubai. Their next group-stage match will be played on Tuesday at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
The squad includes Rashid Khan (c), Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Darwish Rasooli, Sediqullah Atal, Azmatullah Omarzai, Karim Janat, Mohammad Nabi, Gulbadin Naib, Sharafuddin Ashraf, Mohammad Ishaq, Noor Ahmad, Mujeeb ur Rahman, AM Ghazanfar, Farid Ahmad Malik, Fazalhaq Farooqi and Abdullah Ahmadzai.
