ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Investment Board Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh on Sunday urged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to abandon confrontation and embrace dialogue, stressing that the only way forward for the country lies in cooperation and compromise.
In an exclusive interview with PTV News, Sheikh praised the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for adopting a collective approach to governance, which he said had helped navigate complex political challenges.
He called on PTI to align itself with this “unified vision,” warning that the party’s refusal to engage constructively was deepening the political deadlock. “Confrontation will not serve democracy,” Sheikh said, noting that PTI had earlier been offered collaboration by PPP but rejected it “out of ego,” a stance he argued contradicted democratic principles.
Sheikh underlined that PPP and PML-N were working in close coordination and would also take joint decisions on upcoming by-elections, ensuring their strategy was based on mutual understanding and shared national goals.
On provincial issues, Sheikh voiced concern for the nearly 50 percent of the population living below the poverty line, saying he would personally back any initiative aimed at supporting them. He stressed that addressing provincial needs was “the need of the hour,” even though the matter had not yet been raised in the cabinet or within his party.
