Forgotten corridor

CPEC is destined to uplift the fate of Balochistan as well as Pakistan. It consists of three routes: eastern, western and central. However, continuous neglect of the western route is a matter of great concern. The western route starts from Gwadar, crosses through Turbat, Quetta and Zhob and reaches Dera Ismail Khan before leading to Islamabad.

Zhob, which lies on the western route, has great geopolitical significance. But infrastructural development is minimal, the Zhob-DI Khan highway being an example. The locals feel deeply marginalised from the benefits of CPEC. It is high time for both the provincial and federal governments to take concrete measures. This route is of the same importance as others.
