- IGP pays tribute to martyred head constable for laying down life in line of duty
LAHORE: Punjab Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar on Thursday paid rich tribute to the great sacrifice of another son of Punjab Police who laid down his life in the line of duty.
A Punjab Police spokesperson, while sharing the details, informed that Head Constable Iftikhar Sindhu was martyred during an exchange of fire with dacoits in Daska, Sialkot. Two dacoits were also killed in the exchange of fire.
Punjab IG Police Dr Usman Anwar said that in this moment of grief, we stand with the family of the martyr. The family of the martyr will not be left alone, and their welfare and well-being will be fully ensured.
439 combing operations conducted, 60 Suspects held during past 24 hours
Meanwhile, the Punjab Police continued its search, sweep, and combing operations across the province, including Lahore.
Sharing details, a spokesperson for the Punjab Police informed that a total of 439 combing operations were conducted during the past 24 hours. “Over 15,543 suspected individuals were interrogated, and 60 suspects were taken into custody,” he said, adding that 25 search and sweep operations were carried out, more than 2,835 individuals were interrogated, and two suspicious individuals were taken into custody. Additionally, 244 proclaimed offenders, 105 absconders, and 39 habitual criminals involved in heinous crimes were arrested. A large quantity of illegal weapons and ammunition was recovered from the possession of criminals and suspicious individuals. During the operations against criminals, five offenders were neutralized in compliance with the law, while five others were apprehended with injuries.
Punjab IG Police Dr Usman Anwar said that search, sweep, and combing operations will continue to hold anti-state and criminal elements accountable.
