PM condemns Israeli settlers’ storming of Al-Aqsa mosque

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday condemned the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli ministers, settler groups, and Israeli police protection. In a statement shared on his X timeline, the prime minister described the attack as a “sacrilege” against one of Islam’s holiest sites, stressing that it affronts the faith of over a billion Muslims and violates international law.

He denounced the systematic provocations by Israel, particularly the reckless calls for annexation, which he believes endanger the prospects for peace in the region. According to Sharif, Israel’s actions are deliberately escalating tensions in Palestine and the broader Middle East, pushing the region closer to instability and conflict.

Pakistan reiterated its call for an immediate ceasefire, an end to all acts of aggression, and the revival of a credible peace process leading to a viable and independent Palestinian state, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, under international law and relevant UN resolutions.

The Foreign Office also condemned the desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli settlers and officials, describing their actions as a deliberate provocation aimed at inflaming religious sentiments and altering the mosque’s status. Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan condemned the repugnant declaration of Israeli officials that “the Temple Mount is ours,” calling it a dangerous attempt to escalate tensions globally.
