COAS warns of crippling response to any aggression

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Monday issued a stern warning that any aggression or violation of Pakistan’s territorial integrity would be met with a “deeply hurting and more than reciprocal response,” delivered without hesitation or constraints.

Speaking at the National Defence University (NDU) in Islamabad, where he addressed the graduating officers of the National Security and War Course, the army chief emphasized that Pakistan would respond decisively to any threat to its sovereignty. He referred to India’s allegations of external support to Pakistan during the Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, calling them a reflection of India’s refusal to acknowledge Pakistan’s indigenous military capabilities.

Field Marshal Munir stated that Pakistan’s response to any attempt to target its population, military bases, economic hubs, or ports would be immediate and forceful, with the responsibility for any escalation falling solely on the aggressor. He underscored that such actions would have grave consequences for those who fail to recognize Pakistan’s strength as a nuclear-armed state.

The COAS further criticized India’s Operation Sindoor and its failure to meet military objectives, pointing out that Pakistan’s successful Operation Bunyanum Marsoos in May 2025 was a clear demonstration of Pakistan’s strategic capability. He refuted claims made by India’s Deputy Army Chief Lt-General Rahul Singh that China provided live inputs to Pakistan during the conflict, calling such insinuations irresponsible and factually incorrect.

Field Marshal Munir also condemned India’s attempts to drag other states into the conflict, calling it an attempt to deflect attention from its own lack of military preparedness and its divisive geopolitical rhetoric. He contrasted India’s strategic behavior with Pakistan’s approach of principled diplomacy, rooted in mutual respect and peace, positioning Pakistan as a stabilizer in the region.

In his address, the army chief emphasized the importance of professionalism, operational clarity, and institutional strength in winning wars, stating that success is not achieved through media rhetoric or political sloganeering but through faith, competence, and national resolve.

The COAS concluded by lauding the role of institutions like the NDU in fostering civil-military synergy and preparing future leaders to address complex threats. He expressed confidence in the professionalism, morale, and readiness of Pakistan’s armed forces, urging the graduating officers to remain steadfast in their commitment to the nation.
