Operation launched against encroachments along Swat River

PESHAWAR: A rigorous operation has been launched under the instructions of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to remove encroachments along the Swat River.

This operation is a joint effort by the district administration, police, and other relevant departments. According to the Chief Minister’s spokesperson, Faraz Ahmad Mughal, the authorities are determined to act swiftly and with no leniency to clear the encroachments.

As part of the ongoing operation, illegal mining activities along the river have been completely stopped, and strict legal actions will be taken against those responsible for the violations. The spokesperson also mentioned that barriers will be constructed along the Swat River to prevent further encroachments.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the scope of the operation will be expanded beyond the Swat River area to other locations as needed.

Additionally, steps are being taken to restore and preserve the beauty of the region’s tourist spots. He has made it clear that no encroachments will be tolerated in these areas to maintain the integrity of Pakistan’s natural landscapes.

In related news, the body of an 11-year-old boy, Daniyal from Mardan, was recovered from Charsadda, bringing the death toll to 14 following the Swat flash floods. One child remains missing. Rescue 1122 teams are continuing their search efforts under the supervision of Swat’s District Emergency Officer. Daniyal’s funeral prayer was held in Nawan Kali at 3:00 PM.
