The actor admitted that his decision to join AA came after one of the most difficult periods of his life, following his divorce from Angelina Jolie. “I was pretty much on my knees,” he recalled. “I was trying anything and everyone. Anything anyone threw at me. It was a difficult time. I needed rebooting. I needed to wake the f— up in some areas.”

Pitt explained how, initially shy, he grew to look forward to attending the meetings as part of his recovery. “It became something I’d look forward to,” he said, emphasizing the importance of taking responsibility for mistakes and striving to do better.

Pitt’s journey to sobriety started in 2016, shortly after his separation from Jolie. Reflecting on his past relationship with alcohol, he admitted, “I had taken things as far as I could take it, so I removed my drinking privileges.” His decision to quit drinking marked a significant turning point, one that he continues to embrace as part of his ongoing personal growth and healing.
