- 451 combing operations conducted during the past 24 hours, 100 suspects taken into custody: Spokesperson
LAHORE/RAHIM YAR KHAN: Punjab Police Rahim Yar Khan conducted an operation in the Katcha area and safely rescued one abductee who had been kidnapped yesterday.
Sharing details of the operation, a spokesperson for the Punjab Police stated that two employees of a sugar mill, including the rescued individual Aamir Channa, were abducted by dacoits from the jurisdiction of Ahmedpur Lama Police Station.
“Following initial legal formalities, the Rahim Yar Khan Police launched an operation to recover the abductees. One hostage was safely rescued after an intense exchange of fire between the police and the dacoits,” the spokesperson said.
Rahim Yar Khan DPO Irfan Ali Samo stated that a targeted police operation was underway to recover the other hostage and arrest the dacoits.
Yesterday, the Punjab Police also carried out an intelligence-based action against Lathani Gang near the riverine island Chakr Boot in Katcha.
A Punjab Police spokesperson shared the details, saying that during the police operation, several dacoits, including Dil Murad Lathani, Modi Lathani, and Farooq Lathani were injured. Rahim Yar Khan Police targeted the hideouts of the dacoits and set their dens ablaze.
The RY Khan DPO said that several dacoits of the Lathani Gang were injured due to the assault by police using modern weaponry. He further said that the police pursuit of criminals in Katcha was ongoing and intelligence-based targeted operations will continue until the elimination of the dacoits.
Search, sweep, and combing operations intensified across Punjab
Meanwhile, in view of the arrival of Muharramul Haram, search, sweep, and combing operations have been intensified across the province including Lahore. As part of this ongoing effort, during the past 24 hours, 451 combing operations were conducted, 18,498 suspicious individuals were checked, and 100 suspected persons were taken into custody.
Commenting on the operation, a spokesperson for the Punjab Police, said that 28 search and sweep operations were carried out, 2,466 persons were interrogated, and 04 suspected individuals were arrested. A total of 485 proclaimed offenders involved in heinous crimes, 198 court absconders, and 112 habitual criminals were also apprehended. The spokesperson of Punjab Police further said that a large quantity of illegal arms and ammunition was recovered from the possession of criminals and suspected individuals.
During the actions taken against criminal elements, 06 criminals were neutralized, 06 injured, and 08 were arrested. The Punjab inspector general of Police stated that search, sweep, and combing operations will continue in order to hold terrorists and anti-state elements accountable.
Meanwhile, Punjab IG Police Dr Usman Anwar took notice of the incident in which three people were killed and three others injured in firing over a land dispute near Kachi Canal, Rajanpur. He sought a report from RPO Dera Ghazi Khan. The IGP also directed DPO Rajanpur for the immediate arrest of those involved in the firing. He said that all resources should be utilized to arrest the suspects involved in the triple murder and ensure provision of justice to the heirs on a priority basis.
