ISLAMABAD: Former foreign minister and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, leading a parliamentary delegation to the West, called on the international community to play a more active role in securing lasting peace in South Asia. He emphasized the importance of resolving the Kashmir issue, water disputes, and terrorism through a comprehensive dialogue, which, according to Bilawal, India has shown reluctance to pursue.
Speaking at a press conference in Brussels, Bilawal stressed that military confrontation was not a viable solution to the ongoing issues between India and Pakistan. He urged the international community to encourage both nations to engage in diplomatic talks aimed at regional stability. “Dialogue is the only way forward,” he said, reiterating Pakistan’s desire for a bilateral composite dialogue to resolve all unresolved matters.
Bilawal also touched upon the regional conflict involving Iran, stating that Pakistan did not want a war along its border with Iran. He condemned recent strikes on Iran, emphasizing the need for peace across all borders, including with Afghanistan, Iran, and India. He warned that the ongoing conflict with Iran should not escalate into a broader war. “We absolutely cannot afford this conflict in Iran to turn into Iraq 2.0 or World War III,” he remarked.
Highlighting the urgency of the situation, Bilawal called on the international community to impose an immediate ceasefire in the Iranian conflict, stressing that perpetual war would serve no one’s interests.
