Textbook delays disrupt classes in Sindh as minister orders book banks in schools

Students in Sindh are facing academic setbacks as the Sindh Textbook Board (STBB) has failed to print and distribute new course books for classes 6 to 10, despite the start of the academic session.

The delay has left many schools without required materials, affecting teaching and learning activities across the province. Compounding the issue, an inquiry into STBB staff allegedly withdrawing large sums using forged signatures has been paused, while the education department remains inactive.

In response, Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah has ordered the creation of book banks in all government schools to collect and redistribute old textbooks from previous sessions. The process has begun, but many of the returned books are in poor condition due to low-quality printing, with pages torn or damaged.

As per court orders, student results have been withheld in some cases, with results only being issued to those who returned old course books. The situation continues to hamper the academic process in public schools across the province.
