Two killed in consecutive robbery incidents, Landhi SHO suspended after protests

KARACHI: The Station House Officer (SHO) of Landhi has been suspended following widespread protests over two deadly robbery incidents that occurred within two days, claiming the lives of a 10-year-old boy and a 36-year-old man.

On Friday night, Shah Fahad, a compressor mechanic, was fatally shot in the face by motorcycle-riding robbers near his home after resisting. He succumbed to his injuries at Jinnah Hospital while the robbers escaped with his cash, leaving behind his mobile phone.

A day earlier, 10-year-old Ameen was shot in the head and killed at his doorstep in a separate robbery. His aunt Nasira was also injured during the attack, further fuelling public outrage in the community.

Both incidents triggered protests in Landhi, where residents demanded justice, immediate arrests, and improved law enforcement. The protesters held placards calling for the removal of criminal elements and accountability for police negligence.

Authorities confirmed that 44 people have been killed in robbery-related incidents in the city so far this year. While the Landhi SHO has been removed, concerns remain about the overall performance of police officers across District Korangi.
