Couple attacked in suspected honour killing while heading to court marriage

HYDERABAD: A young couple was targeted in a suspected honour killing in Tharhri Mohabat, Dadu district, on Saturday while they were on their way to court to marry without family consent.

According to police, Sapna Janwri and Mashooq Solangi were attacked by unidentified assailants while being accompanied by Khalid Solangi. Khalid was killed on the spot, Sapna also died from gunshot wounds, and Mashooq sustained injuries.

The victims were taken to the local taluka hospital, with Mashooq later shifted to Larkana for further treatment. The attackers fled, and no arrests had been made or FIR registered by Saturday evening.

Police were informed by family sources that Sapna had left her parental home four days earlier and had been staying with Mashooq’s relatives.
