ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has eased the merit requirements by 5 percent for admissions to MBBS and BDS programs nationwide.
This one-time relaxation follows a request from Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, which highlighted a large number of unfilled seats. The PMDC approved the concession after careful consideration, limiting it to the 2024-25 academic session only.
Under the revised criteria, medical colleges can admit students with a minimum of 50 percent marks for MBBS and 45 percent for BDS. Currently, 116 MBBS and 338 BDS seats remain vacant in private medical colleges across Sindh, while Punjab reports 26 MBBS and 100 BDS unfilled seats.
PMDC has directed all medical institutions to complete their admission processes within the stipulated timeframe.
