Five killed, four injured as dumper crashes into two rickshaws in Lahore

Dumper overturns onto rickshaws in busy Lahore area, killing five and injuring four; investigation underway

Lahore: In Lahore’s Baghbanpura area, a dumper lost control and overturned onto two rickshaws on Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of five people and injuries to four others. Among the deceased were two children, aged 10 and 12, identified as Hafiza and Aima, along with two men named Dawood and Rafaqat. The accident occurred at the busy Akhri Mint Stop.

Eyewitnesses reported the dumper also struck several motorcycles, injuring three riders. Rescue 1122 teams arrived promptly, extracting four survivors from under the wreckage and transporting them to hospitals in critical condition. The dumper driver’s negligence is under investigation, with police reviewing CCTV footage to determine the cause, which preliminary reports suggest may involve brake failure. Heavy cranes were used to clear the damaged vehicle from the scene.
