RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir stated on Monday that no hostile design could undermine the determination of Pakistan’s Armed Forces, following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s declaration of May 10 as ‘Youm-e-Marka-e-Haq’. This national day will be observed annually to commemorate the victory of Pakistan’s military during the recent conflict with India.
Marka-e-Haq refers to the broader conflict with India from April 22 to May 10, while ‘Bunyanum Marsoos’ was the operation launched on May 10, during which Pakistan vowed justice and retribution. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that General Munir visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Rawalpindi to inquire about the well-being of soldiers and civilians who were injured during the conflict and Operation Bunyanum Marsoos.
During his visit, General Munir emphasized that no hostile design could erode the resolve of the armed forces. “The valor and sacrifice of our civilians and soldiers are the cornerstone of Pakistan’s security. The entire nation stands united in solidarity with every member of its Armed Forces,” he remarked. He further noted that the unified response exhibited during Marka-e-Haq/Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, in concert with the steadfast support of the Pakistani people, marked a defining chapter in the nation’s military history.
At CMH, General Munir personally met with injured personnel, praising their bravery and unwavering commitment. He assured them of the military’s continued care, rehabilitation, and welfare. The ISPR confirmed that with the successful conclusion of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, the military campaign Marka-e-Haq also came to a victorious end. This operation delivered on the promise made to the people of Pakistan.
In recognition of the victory, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that May 16, 2025, would be observed as the ‘National Day of Gratitude’, with special prayers and gratitude to Almighty Allah. The Prime Minister also declared that May 10 would henceforth be commemorated as Youm-e-Marka-e-Haq, marking the nation’s success in Operation Bunyanum Marsoos against India.
Prime Minister Sharif commended the bravery of Pakistan’s armed forces, emphasizing their professionalism in elevating the nation’s pride. He also unveiled financial compensation packages for both civilians and military personnel affected during the operation. Families of civilians martyred during the conflict will receive Rs10 million, while injured civilians will be compensated between Rs1 million and Rs2 million based on the severity of their injuries.
For military personnel, the government will provide compensation ranging from Rs10 million to Rs18 million based on rank, with housing assistance for martyrs’ families ranging from Rs19 million to Rs42 million.
