Tom Cruise has surprised fans with some exciting revelations about his future in the film industry. Speaking at an intimate event hosted by the British Film Institute (BFI) in London on Sunday, the Hollywood star opened up about his upcoming projects and the unexpected directions his career might take.
During a conversation with Edith Bowman, Cruise discussed his aspirations, including his interest in collaborating once again with Severance director Ben Stiller. The actor expressed a strong desire to revive his role as Les Grossman from Tropic Thunder, stating, “I’d love to work with Ben again. We’re big fans of Ben, and he’s just so talented. He’s a good friend, and I admire what he’s doing as a director.”

In a surprising twist, Cruise also revealed his interest in pursuing a musical role, a genre that fans might not associate with the action star. “Definitely musicals,” he said when asked about his dream projects. “I’m also drawn to dramas, action, adventures… It’s endless.”
Cruise, renowned for performing his own stunts, spoke about his constant curiosity about filmmaking and his commitment to mastering new aspects of his craft. Reflecting on his experiences, he shared, “I tell actors, you train, get interested in whatever it is — music, instruments. I’ve tried to become an expert in different areas of filmmaking. For example, in Legend, I did my first underwater sequence, and I made sure to learn everything about the camera and techniques. I’m always curious, and I keep adding new skills to my repertoire.”

At the event, Cruise also touched on his ongoing enthusiasm for film and his plans to continue pushing boundaries. His remarks included a mention of his upcoming film Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, and how he approaches new challenges in his work.
While in London to promote the Mission: Impossible film, Cruise was also honored with the BFI Fellowship award, which will be presented to him on Monday. He expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating, “I am truly honored by this acknowledgment. I’ve been making films in the UK for over 40 years and have no plans to stop. The UK has some of the most talented professionals in the world, and it’s an incredible home for filmmakers.”

Cruise is set to head to the Cannes Film Festival next, where The Final Reckoning will have its world premiere.
