LAHORE: The DHA Lahore Punjab Juniors/Seniors Tennis Championship 2025 got off to a spirited start, with the first round of the men’s singles category showcasing dominant performances and closely fought contests at the prestigious Defence Club courts in Lahore.
The opening day saw a mix of rising talent and established players making confident statements in their pursuit of the title. Top seed Haroon Zahid set the tone for the championship with a commanding 6-0 victory over Ahsan Razzaq, asserting his dominance and making a strong case as a title contender. Zahid’s performance was marked by aggressive baseline play and a flawless serve that left his opponent struggling to find rhythm throughout the match.
Following Zahid’s clinical display, Mohid Saddan made quick work of Arham Khan with a 6-1 win, combining sharp footwork and consistent returns to control the tempo. Sherhan Salim also advanced with a solid 6-3 victory against Hassan Kamran, showcasing a well-rounded game and effective net play.
In what turned out to be one of the more tightly contested matches of the round, Talha Saleem edged past M Ayan Khan 6-4. Both players displayed commendable shot-making and endurance, but Saleem managed to maintain his composure at crucial points to seal the win. Similarly, Asad Farooq earned a hard-fought 6-4 win over Haider Ahmad in a battle of baseline consistency and mental grit.
Ahmad bin Amir also impressed with a 6-4 victory against Hamza Imran, while M. Diean completed the Men’s Singles round of 16 with a solid 6-4 triumph over Mustafa, rounding off a competitive opening day in the senior category.
In the boys’ U-18 division, M Ayan Khan rebounded from his singles loss to register a confident 6-1 win over Hadi Badar. Ayan Khan continued his strong showing in the boys’ U-14 category, breezing past Hamza Ali Jutt 6-0. Aaliyan Ali joined him in the next round with a convincing 6-2 victory over Asad Ahsan. In the boys’ U-12 round, Dainyal Abdullah emerged victorious with a 6-1 win against Mustafa Zia.
Dainyal also featured in the mixed U-10 category, defeating M Siaam Khan 6-1, while Mustafa Zia bounced back with a narrow 7-5 win over Shehreen Umer in a nail-biting contest. M Ehsan Bari rounded off the day with a flawless 6-0 performance against Ibrahim Faizan.
