KARACHI: Following India’s missile attacks on civilian infrastructure in Pakistan, the Sindh government has taken swift action to reinforce security and emergency response across the province. All police officers and medical staff have been ordered to remain on duty, with leaves canceled, to ensure full preparedness in the face of escalating tensions.
Provincial police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon issued a directive barring all personnel from taking leave unless for maternity or serious medical reasons, citing the worsening security situation. A high-level meeting, chaired by Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi Javed Alam Odho, reviewed the city’s security and ordered heightened surveillance in key areas such as markets, public spaces, and government installations. Increased patrols and monitoring measures have been implemented, with all officers instructed to remain on standby.
Meanwhile, a state of emergency has been declared at all government and district health centers across the province. Heads of district, taluka, and teaching hospitals have been directed to stay alert, and staff leaves have been canceled to ensure maximum staffing. Additionally, Sindh’s ambulance service 1222 has been placed on high alert to handle any emergencies.
