KARACHI: Political leaders from various parties in Sindh came together on Wednesday for a solidarity rally organized by the PPP Karachi Division to condemn Indian missile strikes on Pakistan and show support for the country’s armed forces. The rally, held outside the Karachi Press Club, saw a united front with leaders from different political groups setting aside their differences in light of the current tensions.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, addressing the large crowd, strongly criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him “an international terrorist” and accusing him of putting regional peace at risk. “Today, all political parties have set aside their differences to stand on one platform. This sends a clear message to India: the entire Pakistani nation stands united with its army,” he said. He also emphasized Pakistan’s readiness to defend its sovereignty against any aggression.
CM Shah further condemned the rapid attribution of the Pahalgam incident to Pakistan and rejected the claims, stating, “We do not support terrorism and are open to any impartial inquiry.” He also referred to India’s retaliatory missile strikes as “cowardly” and mentioned that the Pakistani armed forces responded decisively, downing five Indian aircraft and a drone.
Other prominent figures at the rally included PPP Sindh General Secretary Senator Waqar Mehdi, Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani, MQM’s Iftikhar Alam, PML-Q’s Niaz Khaskheli, PML-N’s Ali Akbar Gujjar, ANP’s Shahi Syed, and Jamaat-e-Islami’s Amir Munem Zafar. Boxers Shaheer Afridi and Usman, who recently defeated their Indian opponents, also participated in the rally. Saeed Ghani praised the event as a historic moment of national unity, noting that even minority communities showed strong support.
The rally’s message of unity resonated across political lines, with leaders calling for further national collaboration and a multiparty conference to reinforce the solidarity in response to India’s actions.
