Meghan Markle’s new Netflix series With Love, Meghan has been slammed by Catholic priest Father Brendan Kilcoyne, who described it as “b***** awful.”
Kilcoyne, in a YouTube video, recommended that Catholics watch the show as a form of penance, advising them to “drink in the mediocrity” of the series. He criticized Markle’s portrayal, especially her interaction with a beekeeper in the opening scene, claiming even the bees seemed “mortified” by the conversation. The priest also mocked the duchess’s “blindingly white” and “pristinely clean” bee suit, despite her claims of collecting honey for a year.
Kilcoyne also took jabs at Markle’s relationship with the Royal Family, calling her “the anti-monarchy” and expressing relief that the Royal Family is now “out there in Montecito.”
The eight-part series has received mostly negative reviews from critics, with UK publications like The Independent and The Guardian giving it one out of five stars, while The Telegraph gave a slightly better rating of two stars. On IMDb, the show earned a low 2.5 out of 10 from audiences, while its Rotten Tomatoes score sits at a dismal 11%.
Despite the backlash, With Love, Meghan has still found its way into Netflix’s global Top 10, with over 2.6 million views and more than 12.6 million hours watched since its launch. A second season has already been filmed with Michael Steed returning as director.
