Three female cops caught stealing Rs2.6m during raid

KARACHI: Three female constables were allegedly caught stealing Rs2.6 million during a raid on a gutka manufacturing factory in Orangi on Saturday.

The constables were part of a raiding party led by Deputy Inspector General (DSP) Abid Fazal. During the raid, two suspects, Yusuf and Hussain, were arrested, and 100kg of gutka, along with other materials, was seized.

However, after the raid, the residents of the house filed a complaint at Orangi Police Station, alleging that money had been stolen. The police promptly stopped the task force on their way back for a search.

During the search, constable Mahira was found with Rs1.6 million, while another officer had over 900 riyals and some dirhams. Other officers were seen discarding money in an attempt to evade detection.

The incident was reported to the DIG and Additional IG, who swiftly suspended the three female cops—Mahira, Aram, and Shazia—and appointed DSP Complaint Malir to lead the inquiry into the matter.
