King Charles Hosts High-Stakes Climate Meeting at Buckingham Palace Amid Queen Camilla’s Health Concerns

King Charles convened a significant meeting at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, November 6, following the announcement that Queen Camilla would step back from engagements due to a chest infection. Despite his wife’s absence, the King pressed forward with his planned event, gathering influential business leaders and environmental advocates to discuss climate action.

Held as an international sustainability reception, the meeting aimed to drive meaningful action on climate issues, particularly ahead of critical year-end negotiations for the Global Plastics Treaty. Notable attendees included Foreign Secretary David Lammy, Net Zero Secretary Ed Miliband, and Environment Secretary Steve Reed, all of whom joined to discuss the pressing environmental agenda.

The palace shared that Queen Camilla, 77, is resting under medical advice. A spokesperson relayed, “Her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection… With great regret, Her Majesty has therefore had to withdraw from her engagements for this week but she very much hopes to be recovered in time to attend this weekend’s Remembrance events as normal.”
