Power supply to Makran affected as Iran halts transmission

MAKRAN: Electricity supply from the 132kV Jackie Gore-Mand and 132kV Polan-Jiwani transmission lines from Iran has been suspended, as reported on Wednesday.

According to a spokesperson from the Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO), the suspension of power supply from both transmission lines has resulted in disruptions to electricity supply across all grid stations in the Makran division.

The affected 132kV grid stations include Mand, Tump, Turbat, Hoshab, Jiwani, Gwadar Door, Gwadar Deep Sea Port, New Gwadar International Airport, Pasni, and Ormara, the spokesperson confirmed.

QESCO officials are actively engaged with Iranian authorities to facilitate the restoration of electricity supply. In the meantime, Panjgur and Hoshab grid stations are receiving electricity from the National Grid to mitigate the impact of the outage.

The spokesperson expressed confidence that once power supply from Iran is restored, the situation will normalize. QESCO has apologized to consumers in Makran for the inconvenience caused and has appealed for their cooperation during this period of power outage.
