Zhob, Balochistan hit by back-to-back earthquakes; authorities on alert

ZHOB: Early on Monday morning, the Zhob region in Balochistan experienced two consecutive earthquakes, causing concern among the local population.

The first tremor, measuring a magnitude of 5 on the Richter scale, occurred at a depth of 35 kilometers, with its epicenter located 106 kilometers south of Zhob, as reported by the National Seismic Monitoring Centre in Islamabad.

Shortly thereafter, a second earthquake struck, registering a magnitude of 3.9 on the Richter scale. This quake had its epicenter 79 kilometers south of Zhob and occurred at a depth of 151 kilometers, according to the US Geological Survey.

As of now, there have been no reports of casualties or significant damage. However, the back-to-back nature of the tremors has significantly alarmed residents. Local authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have advised the public to remain vigilant for possible aftershocks.
