Pervaiz Elahi skips court appearance due to illness, delays indictment

LAHORE: Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, the former Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, once again missed his court indictment scheduled for Monday in a case concerning alleged illegal appointments within the Punjab Assembly.

Citing health issues, his lawyers filed for an exemption from court appearance.

The Anti-Corruption Court in Lahore, which is hearing the case, received a medical certificate from Elahi’s legal team. They informed the court that doctors have advised against long-distance travel due to his unhealed rib fracture and an existing heart condition.

This development comes as the court had summoned Elahi along with former secretary Punjab Assembly Muhammad Khan Bhatti and other accused for the indictment in this ongoing legal matter.
