Ichhra incident accused granted bail

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) granted post-arrest bail on Monday to three accused involved in the Ichhra Bazaar incident case and disposed of the bail pleas of two others accused as withdrawn after the police said that their arrest was unnecessary.

ATC Judge Arshad Javed directed accused Muhammad Nadeem, Adil Sarwar, and Altamash Saqlain to furnish surety bonds worth Rs100,000 each. The judge disposed of the bail petitions of Maulana Azeemud Din Shakir and Khalid Shahenshah, after a police investigation report stated that they were innocent.

The Lahore police apprehended the accused last week, for their involvement in harassing a woman who was wearing a shirt with Arabic script printed on it on February 24. The police intervened immediately and took out the woman safely.
