Stray cheetah shot dead in Bajaur after ferocious attack

BAJAUR: A cheetah who was strayed into a residential locality in Khyber District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and attacked a man, was shot dead by the local residents, reported on Thursday.

The wild beat attacked the man in Bara area of Khyber district injuring him seriously. The locals rushed to the site and shot the animal dead.

While the officials of Forests and Wildlife Department did not turn up at the attack site despite being informed, the local residents skinned the dead cheetah even the police reached there.

The locals accused the Forests and Wildlife Department of illegally cutting trees in the jungle, due to which the wild animals are now heading towards populated areas.

A number of wild animals including several cheetahs were killed in many such incidents before.
