CM Naqvi: Nawaz among all political leaders provided security in line with police SoPs

LAHORE: Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi Sunday emphasized that all political leaders, including former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, had been provided security in accordance with police standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Talking to media persons, he pointed out that Zaman Park was not overlooked in the past. “Jammers and adequate security were provided by the provincial government in Zaman Park”, he added.

Naqvi also expressed his gratitude for the role of journalists and the media, acknowledging their crucial work. He promised to provide journalists with meaningful support and to be receptive to their needs.

Naqvi also stated that he seeks the goodwill and blessings of the journalistic community as he undertakes his responsibilities.

To another question, he said teachers have been released across Punjab.

However, he affirmed that no one will be allowed to close educational institutions.
CM Naqvi added that it was inappropriate to involve students in protests. He stressed that shutting down schools across Punjab and using children for such purposes was untenable.

Addressing the concern of privatization in the education sector, he categorically denied rumors of schools charging fees from Rs 5 or 50 to 50 thousand rupees, declaring them false.

On the developmental front, Mohsin Naqvi affirmed his commitment to completing development projects in a timely manner, particularly highlighting the construction and repair of 100 hospitals across Punjab by January 31.

He also underscored the improvement efforts underway in 750 police stations and added that special attention is being given to development projects.

“Steps are being taken to provide health facilities to the people,” he said adding that work is in progress on various parts of the General Hospital building.

The entire team of LDA is on the Ravi bridge in order to complete the project within timeframe.

Punjab Chief Minister also visited the Akbar Chowk flyovers project, the bridge on one side of the road has been completed.

Naqvi inspected the flyover and went to the bridge on foot and then drove himself to the top of the bridge.

He inspected the construction works of the entire project from the constructed bridge. He issued directive to complete the construction and rehabilitation of College Road as soon as possible.

Asphalt work on the bridge should be completed as soon as possible, he said adding that complete the second side of the flyovers as soon as possible. The flyovers will be opened for traffic by mid-November, he remarked.

On the occasion, Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Randhawa gave a briefing about the ongoing progress on the project.

The contractor informed about the completion of the project and the construction activities.
