Arrest of ex-PTI Sindh MPA confirmed; ACE, police raid houses of Zartaj Gul, Naeem Ibrahim

KARACHI/ LAHORE: The Karachi police on Tuesday confirmed arrest of former PTI Sindh MPA leader Raja Azhar while the Punjab Anti-Corruption accompanied by the Punjab Police raided the houses of PTI leaders including former state minister Zartaj Gul and Naeem Ibrahim houses.

According to details, Karachi East Police (Investigations) confessed to have arrested former Sindh Assembly member Raja Azhar, saying he will be produced in the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC). The police stated that the PTI leader is accused of vandalism of Rangers checkpost, public and private property near Shahra-e-Faisal on May 09.

It is pertinent to mention here that PTI leader Raja Aznar was taken into custody by the personnel of police and law enforcement agency (LEAs) from Saddar Karachi and has been shifted to an undisclosed location.

The police across the country, especially in Karachi and Lahore have registered several cases against politicians belonging to the PTI on charges of vandalism, arson and terrorism charges after riots of May 9.

ACE, police raid residences of PTI leaders

Meanwhile, the Punjab Anti-Corruption along with personnel of the Punjab Police raided the houses of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leaders including former state minister Zartaj Gul and Naeem Ibrahim on Tuesday.

Both teams raided the house of Zartaj Gul in Dera Ghazi Khan, searched the house completely. However, Ms Gul was not present when the house was raided.

The officials claimed that Gul was accused of taking commission in development projects. They said she was wanted in the corruption and kickbacks cases and not cooperating in the investigation. A raid was also carried out on the house of Naeem Ibrahim in Arifwala, a former member of the provincial assembly of PTI.

Ibrahim is not in Pakistan as he left for abroad sometimes ago. The PTI leader was booked in some cases of government land grabbing.

The raid team comprising police, elite and anti-corruption conducted a thorough search of Ibrahim’s house.
