PTI’s Shehryar Afridi being kept in death cell at Adiala Jail, lawyer tells IHC

ISLAMABAD: Advocate Sher Afzal Marwat has expressed serious concerns over the detention of PTI leader Shehryar Afridi in a “death cell” at the Adiala Jail.

During a hearing at the Islamabad High Court, the lawyer told Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir about Afridi’s deteriorating health conditions stated that the PTI leader’s arm was paralyzed.

Marwat urged the court to grant Afridi permission to meet his children and transfer the PTI leader to an A-class jail. “My client is a masters graduate and should be kept in prison according to that,” he requested.

The judge subsequently directed prison officials to submit Afridi’s medical report by June 2 and adjourned the hearing. The order was passed on a petition filed by Afridi’s brother seeking the PTI leader’s bail and better medical facilities in jail.
