Peace, tranquility in Malakand Division top priority: RPO

SWAT: Despite the fact challenges keep cropping up in different shape and magnitude, the police force always ready to tackle and come up to these challenge in a befitting manner. All out resources will be utilized to protect life, property and honor of the common in all districts of Malakand region.

“No efforts will be spared to ensure peace and tranquility in Malakand division and the police will never hesitate to render any sacrifice in this regard.”

Malakand Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sajjad Khan expressed the views while talking to the media here. The RPO informed that the police carried out several intelligence-based and search (IBOs), strike operations, snap checking, night patrolling and other operational activities across Malakand division whereas, a large number of proclaimed offenders and other accused were arrested and suspects interrogated. Moreover, police have also seized a high number of illegal weapons, timber and drugs in various districts of the region.

According to RPO Sajjad Khan, the police in all districts of the division including: Swat, Bunir, Shangla, Dir Lower, Dir Upper, Chitral Upper, Chitral Lower and Bajaur, carried out successful operations wherein a total of 191 proclaim offenders(POs) have arrested, adding that as many as 1,621 suspects have also been interrogated during these operation. He informed the police seized 40 SMG guns, 19 rifles, 77 shotguns, 397 pistols and 7024 rounds during the campaign.

Moreover, 17 daggers, 101 magazines, 1.5kg of explosives, 87 safety fuses and 205 dynamite have also been recovered. About a crackdown on drug-peddlers, he said the police had seized at least 183.697kg of hashish, 9.105kg opium, 5.148kg heroin, 2.68kg of ice and 312 liters of alcohol, besides around 269 timber logs were also confiscated. Moreover, police have recovered an amount worth Rs14,86000, snatched in various incidents.

About tourists facilitation, the RPO said police had been extending full cooperation for protection and facilitation of tourists at all tourism spots of the region, especially in Swat. The police, in this connection, performed their duty to facilitate tourists with full devotion during winter festivals, especially at Fizaghat and Malam Jabba areas.

RPO Sajjad Khan, while commenting regarding police performance, said that police force actions against anti-social elements, drug peddlers and perpetrators of social evils in the society would continue without any interruption and no one would be allowed to take law into their hands. He added that all the DPOs have been directed to maintain law and order and take stern action without any delay against proclaimed offenders, accused involved in other crimes, illegal weapons, land grabbers, drug dealers and elements involved in underplay and usurers.
