Lawyers rally seeks suo moto notice over delay in FIR of attack on Imran

ISLAMABAD: Hundreds of lawyers from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rallied in front of the Supreme Court on Friday to press their demand for a suo moto notice over the inordinate delay in registration FIR of the assassination attempt on party Chairman Imran Khan as per his version.

The lawyers also protested against the maltreatment meted out PTI Senator Azam Swati and leaking of his private video. They also blasted murder of senior journalist Arshad Sharif.

The lawyers, carrying banner, kept on chanting “we want justice” slogans.

Imran’s FIR

Ever since PTI chief Imran Khan had survived an assassination attempt, controversy and deadlock have been going on over the registration of FIR of the incident against the persons, apparently accused by Imran. Though the Punjab Police have registered an FIR of the attack following orders of the Supreme Court, the PTI has been in no mood to accept this “eye-wash and pressing for a case the three persons including the Prime Minister, Interior Minister and Maj-Gen Faisal Naseer of the ISI.

Right from the hospital bed after the attempt on his life, Imran has with sustained energy accused three powerful people in the country – the prime minister, interior minister and a senior military officer – for allegedly plotting against him but has simultaneously been expressing his inability to nominate them in FIR despite having his government in Punjab.

The PTI leadership has been of view that the names of the three people should be included in the case as otherwise, the FIR would just be a piece of paper for them.
